Guide for Instructions
To create an instruction, there are several steps you can follow.
Overall Responsibility for Instructions
The overall responsibility for instructions usually lies with the employer or the management of a company. This means that they must ensure that all employees are adequately and regularly instructed to ensure their health and safety at work. According to the Youth Employment Protection Act, employees under the age of 18 must be instructed every six months.
The instructions can include topics such as work and fire safety, hazardous substances, ergonomic workplace design, rules of conduct in accidents or other emergencies, as well as instructions for specific work procedures or machines.
To effectively fulfill the overall responsibility for instructions, the employer or management should ensure that all employees are adequately informed, trained, and sensitized. This can be done through regular training and education, as well as by providing information materials and safety equipment.
A guide for instructions usually includes the following points
- Target Audience: Define who the target audience of your instruction is. What prior knowledge, skills, and experiences do the participants have? Adapt the instruction to the needs of the target audience.
- Objective: Define the objective of the instruction. What should be achieved? What competencies should be conveyed?
- Structure: Structure the instruction clearly and comprehensively. Plan which topics should be covered in which order. Build a meaningful connection between the individual topics.
- Methods: Choose appropriate methods for conveying the content. You can use different methods, such as presentations, group work, role plays, discussions, or exercises.
- Visualization: Use visual aids to illustrate the content. This can be done, for example, by using slides, images, graphics, or videos.
- Feedback: Plan opportunities for feedback and discussion rounds to ensure that participants have understood the conveyed knowledge and to clarify any open questions.
- Documentation: Document the instruction and the participants. This includes, for example, a list of participants, a summary of the discussed content, as well as feedback and improvement suggestions.
- Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of the instruction. Have the objectives been achieved? What improvements can be made in the future?
